    Rush candles were made and used in this district. The inside or white part of the rush was taken out and steeped in tallow to make the rush light.
    Above is an illustration of a rush candle stick.
    A is a kind of tongs which fits tight when C comes near the stand B. C is a cup shaped like the inside of a modern candestick.
