It was in the year of 35 on the 16th day of June
When flowers so gay bestrewed the way all nature was in bloom
To Carlow town I took my way filled with hope and pride
To see the Feis Cup final played by Milford and Killride
When I arrived in Carlow to the field I went straighway
And my position there took up where I could see the play
I have roamed in many a foreign land but no grander sight I've seen
Than those two great teams marching to the wearing of the green.
