  1. The local patron Saint is Bishop Fith sometimes called Isserninus and related to Saint Patrick. He had a monastery at Aghade which is called after him and which later was occupied by nuns.
    A Protestant church now stands at the place where the monastery stood. In the place is a blessed well but no saints day is observed and people are not sure as to his burial place.
