  1. There is no such townsland as Blacklion though a four cross roads of that name appears on ordnance survey maps. Built into the wall of the cross is a slab about three feet square. On it is depicted a lion with open mouth and tongue out. Underneath is the date 1713. It is said that at that time there was a hotel or public house on the corner and that the lion was the name of the hotel. No trace of the ruins remain.
    A "new road" leads from the cross towards Aghowle and crosses
