  1. The trade of the blacksmith is one of the oldest in existence, and blacksmiths have played a prominent part in the various fights for Irish freedom. Who has not heard of Paid O'Donohoe, the blacksmith of Curraha, and in recent years of Sean Mc Eoin the blacksmith of Ballinalee. Convenient to Ballynacargy in Co. Westmeath there lives a family of blacksmiths named Moran, and their ancestors followed the same trade back to the earliest days of history. The story is told that Cuchullin was once in the district and his gray horse Liath Macha cast a shoe. He
