  2. In the parish of Nobber the most famous hedge-school of that area was kept by a man named Peter Galligan. He was also a noted poet in the Irish language.
    In one of his manuscripts he tells of the times and places he kept school in the Nobber district. He commenced in 1814 at Ardamagh in Frances Floods house. The next place he taught was at Tom Lynch's house.
