    In ancient Donaghpatrick,
    In the fertile plains of Meath,
    There lies the greatest patriot
    That ever yet did breathe.
    A native of Bohermeen
    He fought his way through Munster,
    To uphold the flag of green,

    He enlisted as a soldier,
    In a regiment of fame.
    He was their drill instructer,
    When a message to him came.
    To join Lord Curran Wallace,
    Who had order from the state.
    To track those brave insurgents
    In the year of ninty-eight
    III
    One Sunday after Mass,
    Out side the Chapel door.
    Young Kelly and comrades,
    They mustered twenty-four.
    They then broke out of barracks,
    WIth their weapon sharp and keen
