    It wasn't long till she met a wretched looking horse. 'Scratch me scratch me, says the horse, I wasn't scratched this seven years" Haven't I enough to do, says she, without scratching a dirty old nag like you" says she and on she went.
    By this time she was beginning to get very hungry so after a short time she sat down to eat some of the oaten bread. She was not long there until a dog came up; he was covered with sores and looked starved, Feed me, feed me, says the dog, I wasn't fed this seven years'. Get out of my sight, you cur, says she, lifting a stone and hitting him; the poor dog began to [?] and went away.
