  1. Billy Hosey was a mason living in Dalystown (near Granard) about seventy years ago.
    The work was slack round this part of the country and Billy said to himself that he'd go down Cavan direction and that he might hit on a job. He started off walking, early in the morning, and I don't know how long he was travelling when a strange man strick up with him. He wasn't sorry to have company for the journey was long, so they jogged on quiet and easy. As they came within reach of the town there was a lot of people going in towards Cavan with pigs, so the pair knew there must be a fair in the town.
