    The banshee is another local spirit. It is heard crying for some of the families in the district. On one occasion it alighted in the form of a white bird and in the house there was a person dying, and in a half an hour the person was dead. It is always heard crying in forth

  2. HolyWells.
    In Gallarambraher about two miles from Ballyjamesduff there is a Holy Well, called "The Monk's Well". It is said to be there for a hundred years and an Old Monk passing through the town-land blessed it when he was by the well, it is at the edge of and old grave yard and a little hole in the shape of a plate is the Well. The people have great faith in it. Many people have been cured for different sot of pains.
