There is an old ruin in Lurgan which was a hundred years ago the Parish Chapel in Lurgan.

There is an old ruin in Lurgan which was a hundred years ago the Parish Chapel in Lurgan. It is situated in Lurgan graveyard. When it fell the stones were taken away from it and those stones helped to build the Protestant Church in Virginia. This old ruin is in a very lonely place and ivy leaves are growing on the walls. In the townland of Killafinla there are the ruins of an old monastery where friars and monks lived long ago. In Lough Ramor there is an island called Tighe's Island. On it are the ruins of a monastery where monks lived. These monks were famous teachers and they were robbed and hunted and some of them were killed. When they were leaving they left their curse on the island It is said in the Summer time when the water dries up around the coast of the lake that a pass can be traced out to the monastery and that flowers rose bushes and goosberry bushes are found still growing on the island
