    Island and he said that there were two or three of these there, very large ones laid down on the ground near where the standing stone is at the edge of the sloping cliff at the Eastern part of the Island and that one of the flags had two lines cut in the face of it, and that there were other short lines cut across each of the long lines in themselves and only for Thomaseen Cahill who was in a canoe underneath the landing place in the Island and was in a hurry away shouted to him to come away he, Tom Collins, would have examined the flags better and see if he could make out what sort of an inscription was on the particular flag he had noticed it on. He also told me he saw one hole cut in one side of the forementioned standing stone, something like the one hole at one side and the four holes at the other side of the standing stone near St. Senan's Well, Kilkee. Note the inscription on the flags to my mind is Ogham and the standing stones both on Bishop's Island are
