    Hedge Schools 18-5-1938
    There were hedge schools in this district. The one I heard about was situated on the top of Dolan's Hill in front of a house in which Mr Maguire lived.
    School was held outdoors on the Summer and indoors in the Winter. The teacher lodged in a farmer's house. The children brought money each week as payment. The subjects taught were Latin, writing and mathematics. Gut an Maijisur was the only book used.
