  1. A True Story
    3-12-37
One time Paddy Cassidy (an old man who lived in Belturbet a few years ago) was working for a woman near Belturbet who had the name of being very stingy. One day she gave him for his dinner, a big plate of gravy with a small piece of meat in the middle of it. When Paddy saw the dinner he was getting he got up and pulled off his coat. The woman asked him what was he doing and he said. "I am going to swim to catch that piece of meat".
Another day she gave him a very small portion of honey with his tea. When he saw it he said "I see you keep a bee".
