  1. I live in the townland of Gortaquill, which is in the parish of Drumlane, in the Barony of Lower Loughtee, in the County Cavan about four miles from the town of Belturbet.
    There are about thirty families living in it, and the population is about two hundred. The family names most common are McDonald and O'Reilly.
    There is an old woman named Mrs Doonan aged ninety-six living in it. She does not know Irish, but she can tell English stories.
