  1. The landlord that reigned over our townland was Captain Phillips. He was a very cruel man to Catholics. He was always finding fault with them when ever he got the chance.
    If he found them with an animal that even broke loose and was on the road he would summon them. He also evicted families. Mr Phil Mc gahern, father of the present Paddy Mc Gahern, Drumalee, Belturbet was evicted from his home. He lived in the townland of Clowney.
    A man name Tom Griffith found some small fault with them and complained to the landlord and they were evicted.
    Mr Mc Gahern got another house in Drumalee. The land isn't so good
