    There are many old forts in this district

    Long ago people did not
    There are many old forts in this district.
    There is a fort in the townland of Raheelan.It is situated on a hill. There is a high bank of clay around it. It is said there was gold in it. Two people named Philip Sheridan and George Reynolds dug for it about forty years ago. They dug until they came to a flat stone. Then they heard a dreadful roar and they ran away. In a short time after both of these men lost the power of their left legs.
