  1. In olden times there were no shops, so people had to go to the nearest house. Labour was generally given for goods. Buying or selling was not carried on after Mass. Sometimes goods were given on tick. In those days, feather and rag buyers frequently went round.
    They used to make papers out of the rags. Poor people often gave kine in exchange for goods in those days Markets were held in towns.
