  2. Bread was made from oats and wheat. Flour used to be made locally. Grindstones used to be used for grinding meal. The bread made was soda cake, boxty, potatoe cake, oatmeal bread and pancakes. The gradients used were flour, salt soda and currants. Milk was used when kneading. Bread was made every day. People used to put a cross on the cake.
