  1. A funny story it happened in 1914 when the electric light was being installed in Ballyconnell. There was a big wheel wanted for the power-house. It took some men and horses two days to bring it from the station which is hardly a quarter of a mile away. When they got it over from the station they left it on the road out-side the power-house. Next morning a man stopped at the wheel, scratched his head and said, "there are honest people in Ballyconnell or that wheel would not be there this morning."
