Once upon a time a beggar who was very strong came to a house and asked for a pipeful of tobacco, and the man of the house said that he would give it to him if the beggar would break a flag with his head, and the beggar said that he would, and the man gave him a very strong flag, and he broke the flag with his head, and then the man gave him the tobacco, and when he went out there was a shower, and he opened the door of a cabin and there was a horse inside, and when he went in the horse kicked him in the head, but he did not hurt him.
One night a man was coming home from his cuaird and he had to pass a fort and he saw people that were dead long before inside the fort, and he took off his hat and prayed for them, and every time he was passing he prayed for them, and he saw them no more.
