Once upon a time there lived a man in Ballyvaughan who had poteen hidden in a bog.

Once upon a time there lived a man in Ballyvaughan who had poteen hidden in a bog. This man had some secret power and he often brought his neighbours to where he had the poteen hidden, but he told them not to touch it and they said they would not touch it. But when night came the neighbours came together and they went to the place where the poteen was hidden, but they could not go nearer than a hundred yards to the place where the poteen was hidden, because a big black dog was minding it. The people went in several directions trying to get to the place where the poteen was hidden but the black dog was seen in all places.
Once upon a time there lived a family in Killimer and their father died when they were very young. One night there came a knock on the door and one of the girls got up and opened it but there was no one there and the knock came again and they got up and went into the cabin and there was a cow calving in it.
