  1. Sinon Scanlon, eldest son of Michael Scanlon, was drowned off the quay at the age of eleven. One evening, about thirteen years ago, he and his brother Paddy were playing on the quay. About 8 o'clock Paddy was called by his mother to go for the cows, and Sinon was left to carry on by himself. At 10.30 news went round the island that Sinon was missing, and two hours later when the tide had ebbed out, his body was found in the spot where he must have fallen.
