  1. One day four little boys went into a wood to kill birds. When the first boy killed a bird he roasted it but a little white dog went up to it and ate it. Then the same thing happened to two more of the boys but when the fourth boy saw the dog he buried him under the ground. As he did so a little man with a cage appeared to him and said "Step in" and the little boy did so.
    Immediately he was under the ground. Then the little man said that there were three giants living in the house near him and that if they found the smell of an Irishman they would kill him but the little boy did not mind. The next day he went to the house and there he met the maid. He went
