  1. (continued from previous page)
When Mr Chapman was shouting "Halloo bad dog!" the people thought he was shouting "Halloo mad dog", and all the people rushed out with any weapon they could get to kill the dog. And before he had time to stop them, his valuable dog was killed.

  2. Mr Chapman was a famour Quaker who lived in Cootehill. He was very honest, very upright, but a little bit peculiar.
One day a man asked him for a match.
Mr Chapman gave him one match. The man went over to the fire and lit the other end of the match in the fire, and lit his pipe. Mr Chapman said to him, "Since thou art so careful, I will give thee a whole box". For many years that was said to children who were very careful.
