  1. There is a holy well in our district. It is called Saint Patrick's well. Saint Patrick is supposed to have visited there when he was preaching the faith. The well is situated in a field called The Well field belonging to John Coleman, Knocknashammer, Mountain Lodge, Cootehill, Co Cavan.
    Each year there crowds of people praying at it. Invalids come there and rub the water on any affected parts of their bodies. People have been cured there.
    There is a story told about a man who tried to pollute the well. He threw a dog with a very infectious disease into it. This man took the same disease himself and died as a result of it. At that time the well was at the ehad of the
