  1. The drowning on Lough Sillan occurred on the twenty-fifth July, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight. The victims in this disaster were the master and his wife, the mistress, the monitress, and thirteen scholars from Cullies school.
    The master brought them out for an evenings enjoyment. He brought the girls out the first evening and he was to bring the boys out the next evening but the boys did not get out on account of the drowning the first evening.
