  1. The drowning in Lough Sillan took place in July 1878. Master Mc Cabe his wife and seventeen of his pupils were drowned.
    Those drowned were Mary Anne Mc Cabe, Rose Mc Cabe, Mary A Nulty, Ellen Mc Cabe, M Murray, Draftons (2) Cullies, Mc Breen Corravilla, Tierney, O'Reilly of Darkley and the monitor Mc Gorry.
