  1. The largest lone white thorn bush in Ireland grew in Crocknahattina in a centre of a field. it belonged to the late Mick Cooney. Its branches covered a rood of ground. Many prominent people came from all parts of Ireland to see it. Unfortunately it was knocked down by a big windstorm about twelve years ago. The old people long ago used to believe that the fairies lived under neath its branches.
    Many a wee man was seen there cobbling his shoes.
    Another lone bush is situated in the district of Tory Bush. This bush is
