no'one slept in his bed on that night. The people took to the hills and woods and bogs and spent the night there in fear and trembling.

  2. On the "Rock of Muff" the ruins of a castle of the OReilly's was to be seen within living memory. A road contractor proceeded to use the stones for road-making. He was stopped by the society for the Preservation of National monuments, but the walls were already under mined and fell to the ground.
The field in which Muff Castle stood is still known locally as "the castle field".
