  1. In olden times, the children hardly ever wore boots until they were starting school. In some places the older people, when going to the market or other places, carried their boots until they were beside the town.
    Children go barefoot now in summer and poor children have to go in winter, too.
    There are four shoemakers in our town.
    Some people wear clogs when going through wet places.
    Some years ago many trees were bought in Major Pratt's demesne. There were cut up and the soles of clogs made from them.
