  1. The old road, which starts at Loughderry in Co. Monaghan and joins the Carrickmacross - Drumcondrath road at Ballyhoe, is the road by which stage coaches travelled from Derry to Dublin. It is not now in use as the traffic goes by the new road made about 80 years ago.
    New roads have been made through divided land. The Goverment employed large numbers of men to make and repair these roads.
