  1. My father puts in about 1 1/2 acres of potatoes each year. The amount varies according to the size of the field.
    My father puts in about 2 acres some years. He prepares the ground and sometimes manures it before he turns it up. The potatoes are generally sown in drills though they are said to be more wasteful than ridges.
    First the ground is ploughed, after some time it is spring toothed. Then it is harrowed and the drills are opened.
    The manure us put out, spread and bag stuff is shaken on. Then the potatoes are dropped about
