- (continued from previous page)A child born after his father's death had the cure of the "Dirty Mouth", and was also able to cure a child suffering from Mumps by breathing into his mouth.
The seventh son had the cure of all "Worm Diseases" if when the child was born a worm was tied in his hand and left there to die.
Sty in the eye:_ The sufferer got three gooseberry thorns and pointed them at the afflicted part saying "In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.
Bleeding: Slanless (herb) crushed, and placed over the wound stopped bleeding immediately.
Blood Tonic:- Nettle Tea, and nettles used as a vegetable - water - cress salad.
Colds and Pneumonia. The Burdog Root and peppermint have been used successfully in curing colds and pneumonia.
Fever:- Marigolds have been used in cases of fever but no information as to how they were used.
Swelling:- Chicken weed roasted and powdered and applied to the swelling has been a successful cure.
Sprains:- The fat of a goose or gander rubbed thoroughly on the limb proved a wonderful cure.(continues on next page)- Collector
