  1. It is a custom in Mullagh and the neighbourhood to light houses on Xmas Eve.
    About twenty years ago, a caretaker who lived in the gatehouse of a gentleman's place near Mullagh went to the village for something on Xmas Eve. He thought to himself that he would not light the candles in his windows till his return.
    When he came in sight of his house on his way back, he noticed that all his windows were blazing with lights. He did not wonder very much for he thought a neighbour who knew where he left the key when going out, went in and lit them.
