  1. There is an old road from Virginia to Bailieborough.
Travelling to Ballieborough on the modern road from Virginia one sees the commencement of the old road at the foot of Corracloughan Hill. This old road which passes through Maguire's farm at Corracloighan meets the main road at George Reilly's/ From her the old road lay in line with the present day road until at Morgan's of Lisnabuntry it cuts away into the hills and again appears at Lynch's of Enagh. Its line from this was along the present road till at Arlow school it went away in through the country and eventually coming out at, and passing the Stonewall, it again joined the mainroad at Carnalynch. From here its position was the same as the main road until at Pidgeon's Brae it took a direct line to the left to Bailieborough entering the town at the National Schools.
When this old road was in existence wheeled carts were scarcely used. It was horse back they travelled on.
