  1. Every Hollow Eve night the fairies go to every house. The people always leave milk beside the fire for the fairies. In the morning, the first person that gets up and looks in the ashes, and if they see the track of a foot in the ashes, some body will die before that time twelvemonth. Or if they see the track of a foot in the ashes facing the door, some body will leave the house before the next Hallow-Eve.

  2. On a Hollowee'en night it is an old cutom to go to bed at ten o'clock. If you don't go at that time you will find some noise in the house. On a Hallowe'en night, all the fairies are out. They are in great humour that night. if you could catch a fairy on that night, it is said he would bring you to a crock of gold.
