the hole and pulled down the stones round it. But instead of seeing the bird they saw a middle sized vessel. James caught hold of the vessel and what was it but a tea-pot. He looked inside and it was full of gold and silver - about a hundred pounds mostly in sovereigns. The person that hid this was a very wise person. So they brought it home and from that day to this day they always had good luck and were always rich. This is about seventy years ago.

  2. According to the history of this district we are told that on one of the islands of Lough Ramour there was a castle. This castle belonged to the O'Reilly chieftains in the time of the trouble. The O'Reilly chieftains cast all his gold and silver vessels into the lake. It lay there for a few years. [Crossed out: T] They were discovered in a hole with a trunk of a tree over it.
