  1. There was civil war after the treaty which was signed in nineteen twenty one.
    The Irish free State troops were guarding the barrack at that time. The Republican soldiers called the Irregulars seized Dundalk one night in August nineteen twenty two.
    The volunteer soldiers in Virginia barracks were ordered to Dundalk to help their comrades there.
    As soon as the barrack was vacated some of the local IRA entered with tins of petrol and set fire to the barrack. The blaze raged fiercely and burned the adjoining house that is the house in which we live. At that
