    a cry for help and saw an old woman. All the boys went on to the camp but one named Diarmuid. He ran back, lifted the old woman in his arms and waded through the river. When he reached the camp Fionn asked why his clothes were so dirty, and why he, did not leap the river. Diarmuid did not answer; he did not wish to be praised for what he had done. But Fionn understood and said; "I choose you for I know you helped one who was poor and weak. That was a noble deed. You are fit to be one of my men.
