  1. About twenty five years ago there was a great runner living in Garryross and Castlerahan. His name was Timmons. He completed in many Marathon Race in England, France and the Isle of Man.
    When practising for these races he used to run on these roads every evening. Sometimes he had a bicycle pacing for him, but oftener it was a race horse he had along with him. He was able to beat the racer in a long race of seven or eight miles.
    The races he completed in England and other countries were for a distance of ten miles and in one of these races he was third at the finish.
    At that trace he was up against the best runners of the World. At other races in Ireland he won many valuable prizes.
    I am not sure if he died or emigrated to America but he does not live in this locality or
