   How delightful it is to sit round the fireside on a cold winters night and listen to our parents tell us the history of one hundred years ago. There is in Ulster a lake from which the bright Inny flows to the sea. Long ago, it is said so many fish were caught in this lake that the fishermens nets were often broken. There is an old tale about the lake which tells us how it was first made by a great flood long ago. At that time we are told there were pasture and woodland where the lake now lies.
   Once there came a haughty chieftain from Munster and seized on this land around where the lake is now situated. He fought a fierce battle with the tribe that lived there and killed all their fighting men. Then he sought out and put to death all the rest of the tribe young and old alike.
   It is said he found one old woman sitting beside a covered well and put her to death. She was so very old that he ought to have taken pity on her. If
