  1. In this locality a person born at Whitsun is called cincíse and is often nicknamed "Whit" or "the Whit", and a blow from him is said to be unlucky. A calf or other animal born at this time is placed under a sod, otherwise it is said he would not be lucky.
    The people of this district during Whitsun do not frequent rivers or lakes. Children are frequently warned by their parents not to enter water within that period, for it is considerd unlucky.
