  1. When a person has the mumps there is an old cure for it. Put the ass'es halter on the person and drive him round the pig-sty three times and say "muca, muca ye take leicne" and the pigs take the mumps and the person gets better.

  2. Make a poultice of nettles and apply to the affected parts. Make nettle tea and give frequent drinks of it to the patient and keep him in bed.
