  1. Long ago the people had a different way for making whips from now. First of all they got flax and they weaved it into cords. Then those cords were plaited into whips. Then they put cane rods to the end of those whips for handles. The whip cords were attached on to the canes with a piece of leather to make them strong. Then the whips were ready for use. There are some of those whips to be had at present in the district. They were much better and stronger than the whips we have nowadays.
