  1. In the penal times there were very cruel men known as landlords who used to evick people out of their houses and take their lands and let them die in the ditches or along the road.
    One of these known as Bell who resided in Drumcarbin House three miles from Crossdonery was not a landlord but a magistrate, he used to command the landlords under his control and go round in the months of May and November and gather the rent, if the tenants had no money he
