  1. Religious Stories
    I heard many interesting stories from Mr. Patrick Galligan, Corlislea, Ballinagh but the most interesting of them is a religious story entitled "The Man with His Hand To His Mouth."
    Once upon a time a man named William Johnston stole a cross from a chapel in the village of Arva. From the day he stole the cross he was walking the roads of County Cavan holding the (cross) hand he took the cross with to his mouth. A man walked the roads with him to feed him as he could not eat unless his hand was tied to his body.
    One day the priest met him on the road. the priest told him to take down his hand. After that he could keep his hand by his side and he had not to walk the roads any more.
    Mr. Patrick Galligan told me another story about a man who killed a priest. The priest was coming from Kilnaleck one night riding his horse. He was coming down Aughawee hill when suddenly a man Wilton jumped out from behind a tree and killed the priest. From that time
