  1. If a person gets up early in the morning and washes his hands and face in the dew on the grass, people say that the sun will never burn him during the coming summer.
    Another old custom kept by the people is to bring in the blossoms of the white-thorn and keep them in the house as long as they stay fresh from May Day.
    Another very old custom is to bring in the rowan-berries and make rings of them on the tails of the cows and also on their heads.
