Travelling Folk
Poor people go in wagons from place to place. They might stop in one place for a week. They have a tin smith with them. During this period they go around the country selling tins, which they call 'gallons" "pints" and "quarts". They move to another place and carry on the same work. They have places appointed to go. In this district they always camp at Curry's Brae, Dereskitt Bridge, Deramfield Cross. Some people go along from town to town gathering pennies. They usually come when there is an "old" fair.
