- There are four families living in Eonish. There are twenty seven people living altogether. Gibson is the most common name. There are three thatched houses and one slated. It is an Island and that is how it gets its name. There are no people over seventy living in it. They do not know Irish, Houses were more numerous some years ago. Two are completely gone and two are in ruins. There are some hilly fields and the rest is flat. It is not boggy. The flat ground is good. There is no wood on it. There are no rivers on the island. the island is in a branch of Lough Oughter.
